Our Team

Beond Corrosion is an independent corrosion engineering and execution-support firm focused on life-extension of critical infrastructure.

We specialize in bridging the gap between inspection data and real-world corrosion mitigation, ensuring utilities can move confidently from assessment to action.

Collective Experience

Our core team represents multiple decades of combined experience in corrosion inspection, structural assessment, and utility infrastructure programs. This includes more than 25 years of direct utility experience at the field and advisory level, supported by decades of hands-on inspection and engineering leadership.

Structures Assessed, Inspected, and Protected

Collectively, our personnel have worked on thousands of utility and infrastructure structures across Canada and the United States. This includes inspection, assessment, corrosion mitigation planning, and protective coating work on both energized and non-energized assets.

Types of Assets Worked On:

Our experience spans a wide range of critical infrastructure, including:

✔️ High-voltage transmission towers

✔️ Transmission and distribution systems

✔️ Substations

✔️ Utility poles and foundations

✔️ Communications and broadcast towers

✔️ Industrial steel structures

✔️ Associated grounding, grillage, and structural support systems

Supported by an extended specialist network of inspectors, engineers, and technical professionals, Beond Corrosion scales its expertise to meet complex project demands while maintaining consistent standards, practical reporting, and field-aligned recommendations.

Michael MacDougall

Operations Director | New Business Development

Bringing more than 30 years of directly related utility, telecom, and infrastructure experience to the assessment, protection, and life-extension of critical assets.

He is a certified corrosion technician and advanced coating inspector through AMPP (Association for Materials Protection and Performance), with deep expertise in corrosion mechanisms, protective coating systems, and cathodic protection strategies. Michael’s work is grounded in real-world field conditions — not theory — and focuses on delivering clear, defensible insight that asset owners can act on with confidence.

Michael’s background spans telecommunications, broadcast, and high-voltage utility infrastructure, with extensive hands-on experience across all frequency bands, including tower erection, structural modifications, inspections, and long-term corrosion mitigation programs. He has worked on lattice towers, monopoles, self-supporting structures, substations, and aging galvanized steel assets across some of the most demanding operating environments.

Having worked on both the utility and contractor side, Michael brings a balanced, independent perspective to Beond Corrosion’s operations — helping asset owners truly understand what they have, identify real risk early, and implement practical protection strategies that extend service life and reduce total lifecycle cost.

Senior Corrosion Engineer | Director of Engineering

Bruce Voss, P.Eng, CCI

Bruce Voss is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in corrosion assessment, coating performance, and infrastructure reliability across utility and industrial assets.

He holds NACE/AMPP Certified Coating Inspector Level 2 (58802) and has supported corrosion inspection, mitigation, and rehabilitation programs involving transmission structures, substations, and other critical steel assets operating in aggressive environments.

Bruce provides technical leadership and engineering oversight to BEOND Corrosion projects, ensuring inspection findings, system selection, and recommendations align with applicable standards, industry best practices, and real‑world constructability. His work bridges field conditions and engineering intent, helping owners and project teams make informed, practical decisions on corrosion risk, service life, and long‑term asset performance.

John Keener

Director | Business Development

John Keener is a qualified electrical worker and journeyman lineman with over 25 years of direct utility experience across transmission and distribution systems.

He has worked extensively with PG&E on corrosion mitigation and infrastructure reliability programs and brings deep, field-driven expertise in tower painting and protective coatings, cathodic protection systems, foundations and grillage structures, and associated grounding and structural components.

John’s experience bridges the gap between engineering intent and field execution, providing practical insight into how corrosion affects utility assets over their full service life — and how mitigation strategies perform in real operating environments.

James Keener

Operations Director | New Business Development

James brings 30 years of multisector experience and is known for transforming underperforming ventures.

He aims to drive growth and innovation in inspection programs, clear and simplified reporting, and help asset owners understand corrosion risk and asset condition.

Extended Specialist Network

Depending on project requirements, Beond Corrosion works with a trusted network of inspectors, engineers, and technical specialists to support larger or specialized scopes of work while maintaining consistent inspection standards and reporting quality.
