Beond Corrosion is led by a focused group of professionals with deep experience in corrosion assessment, utility infrastructure, and field execution.
Our team combines engineering knowledge, inspection expertise, and hands-on utility experience to deliver clear, practical corrosion insight for critical infrastructure owners.
Collective Experience
Our core team represents multiple decades of combined experience in corrosion inspection, structural assessment, and utility infrastructure programs. This includes more than 25 years of direct utility experience at the field and advisory level, supported by decades of hands-on inspection and engineering leadership.
Structures Assessed, Inspected, and Protected
Collectively, our personnel have worked on thousands of utility and infrastructure structures across Canada and the United States. This includes inspection, assessment, corrosion mitigation planning, and protective coating work on both energized and non-energized assets.
Types of Assets Worked On
Our experience spans a wide range of critical infrastructure, including:
High-voltage transmission towers
Transmission and distribution systems
Substations
Utility poles and foundations
Communications and broadcast towers
Industrial steel structures
Associated grounding, grillage, and structural support systems
Supported by an extended specialist network of inspectors, engineers, and technical professionals, Beond Corrosion scales its expertise to meet complex project demands while maintaining consistent standards, practical reporting, and field-aligned recommendations.

Operations Director
New Business Development
Michael MacDougall is the founder of Beond Corrosion and brings decades of hands-on experience across utility and communications infrastructure throughout Canada and the United States.
He holds NACE/AMPP CIP Level 2 certification and is also a Certified Corrosion Technician, with extensive field experience on transmission towers, substations, utility poles, and communications and broadcast structures — including work in energized environments.
Michael’s focus is on delivering practical inspection programs, clear and simplified reporting, and helping asset owners understand corrosion risk and asset condition without unnecessary technical complexity.
Senior Corrosion Engineer
Director of Engineering
Bruce Voss is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience in corrosion assessment, coating performance, and infrastructure reliability across utility and industrial assets.
He holds NACE/AMPP Certified Coating Inspector Level 2 (58802) and has supported corrosion inspection, mitigation, and rehabilitation programs involving transmission structures, substations, and other critical steel assets operating in aggressive environments.
Bruce provides technical leadership and engineering oversight to BEOND Corrosion projects, ensuring inspection findings, system selection, and recommendations align with applicable standards, industry best practices, and real‑world constructability. His work bridges field conditions and engineering intent, helping owners and project teams make informed, practical decisions on corrosion risk, service life, and long‑term asset performance.

Director
Business Development
John Keener is a qualified electrical worker and journeyman lineman with over 25 years of direct utility experience across transmission and distribution systems.
He has worked extensively with PG&E on corrosion mitigation and infrastructure reliability programs and brings deep, field-driven expertise in tower painting and protective coatings, cathodic protection systems, foundations and grillage structures, and associated grounding and structural components.
John’s experience bridges the gap between engineering intent and field execution, providing practical insight into how corrosion affects utility assets over their full service life — and how mitigation strategies perform in real operating environments.
Managing Director
James brings 30 years of multisector experience and is known for transforming underperforming ventures. He aims to drive growth and innovation in inspection programs, clear and simplified reporting, and helping asset owners understand corrosion risk and asset condition.

Depending on project requirements, Beond Corrosion works with a trusted network of inspectors, engineers, and technical specialists to support larger or specialized scopes of work while maintaining consistent inspection standards and reporting quality.
